The music was blaring and there were no place to hide; on a huge screen in the living room, an MTV scantly clad female singer was doing a mating dance with topless male fashion model. The music clip scene was so heated and oversexed that even I felt uncomfortable.
In front of the huge screen in the living room, 4 little girls, ranging from 2 to 5 years old were happily dancing, doing their best ballet pas.
The birthday table was scattered with “Princesses” plates, cups and birthday hats. The “Princesses” books, all kind of them were everywhere. So is Princesses figurines. And games. And window drapes. And toddler table-chairs set.
After the MTV slip was finally over, a new, just released animated movie for kids was put on. The soundtrack was like a rollecoaster – soaring up and tumbling down sounds – I felt like a cat who wants to jump out of the window when they are vacuuming in the house.
The movie “for kids” was designed, probably to give the little ones the ADD and hypo-activity at once. No wonder they say that the attention span is getting shorter and shorter and more and more kids are suffering from ADD and other neurological and behavior disorders.
What is going on – we didn’t have a TV set since 1995 – did we miss out something. I asked one of the guests what is she thinking about the deafening soundtrack and the speed of the action in the movie enough to send your blood system over-pumping and burst. She said – but the modern kids won’t watch anything elese – they will fall asleep if you show them quiet, slow movie.
I stop my rant here. I just want to protect my child from this attack, but I don’t want her to be an outsider, once she goes to school.
What to do?
